Advancing Better Science For All.

The Winn Awards exist to improve participation in clinical trials, driving better health outcomes in every community and saving more lives. We prepare early-career physician-researchers and medical students to lead studies that reach the people who need them most.

Our Mission

Better Science For All is more than a tagline.

The Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials Award Program prepares a new generation of physician-researchers and medical students to design and lead high-impact studies that engage communities too often left out of research. This work ensures new therapies are safe and effective for everyone who will one day rely on them.

Community-engaged research

Building trust where clinical research has rarely reached.

A pathway, not a moment

Supporting careers from medical school through research leadership.

Treatments that work for all

Trials that reflect the patients who will use the medicine.

A national network

Scholars, mentors, and partners advancing science together.

The Award Programs

One connected pathway, from first exposure to research leadership.

Three awards meet physicians and students at different points in their careers, and together they build a lasting national network of community-focused clinical trialists.
